Lead XD on the Innovation Pod
The Project
In 2020, M Health Fairview was just like every other Healthcare Provider, just trying to make it through the pandemic. They decided to create an Innovation Pod that would work directly with Doctors, Patients, Subject Matter Experts, and anyone else relevant to the problem at hand, to solve complex business problems in their hospitals as well as ones their patients faced.
I was fortunate enough to be added to the pod while I was working as the Director of Experience Design at Nerdery. I spent three months working as the Innovation Pod XD Lead for M Health Fairview. Collaborating with my team (Head of Strategy, two Business Consultants and a Visual Designer), along with our stakeholders (Head of Customer Innovation Studio and the Chief Marketing & Design Officer), we would meet one to two times a week to discuss current business problems. Working lean to solve each problem through large workshops to understand current processes, gaps, and pain points in order to ideate and innovate on POCs for the business to vet with stakeholders and end-users. Most of the work we completed cannot be shared at this time and some of the work below has been intentionally blurred.

We wanted to test the hypothesis that At Home Care would be a better experience for the end-user, which would increase patient loyalty equating in more money for M Health Fairview.

From our research, we created a story of a breast cancer survivor and her struggles to navigate the current healthcare system.

From our research with the Oncology team, we were able to come up with some concepts for M Health Fairview to get in front of Doctors and Patients to ensure the idea was desirable and viable.
